Locum Veterinarian

Location: PASH, Fiji
Contract: 12 months minimum (extendable up to 3 years)

  • We are seeking a dedicated and veterinarian with at least 2 or more years of experience, to join our team at PASH in Fiji (Nadi). This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about animal welfare and looking to make a meaningful impact in a country where standards are well below reasonable levels.

    • Contract Duration: Minimum 12 months (extendable up to 3 years)

    • Visa: All visa requirements will be completed at our expense

    • Applicant Requirements:

      • Must complete a medical check and police clearance at own expense

      • Documents must be posted to PASH (we reimburse up to FJD $250 upon proof of expense)

    • Accommodation: Provided onsite or nearby

    • Work Schedule:

      • Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

      • Emergency on-call duties required (Emergency hours are paid on top of your veterinary salary on an as-worked basis)

    • Salary: In line with local veterinary rates

    • Organisation: Registered Charitable Trust (no government or donor funding)

    • Start Date: Asap - January 2026.

    • Reports to: Resident Veterinarian

    • Daily client consultations and shelter work

    • Scheduled outreach work (onsite or offsite, including rural and island locations; overnight stays may be required)

    • Perform basic surgeries and be highly competent in desexing using various techniques (critical for outreach work)

    • Maintain accurate medical records for all clients

    • Ensure efficient workflow systems are in place

    • Additional veterinary duties include:

      • Vaccinations and parasite control

      • Diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses

      • Emergency care and stabilisation

      • Health checks for shelter animals

      • Advising on nutrition and preventive care

      • Surgical procedures based on skill level

    • Minimum 2 years of veterinary experience

    • Competent in basic and desexing surgeries

    • Comfortable working in rural and island settings

    • Degree from an approved university list as per Fiji requirements
