Ready to Volunteer?

Medical volunteers are essential to the success of the PASH project. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for Fiji’s domestic animals through veterinary care and to educate communities on animal welfare and the human-animal bond that brings comfort to both animals and the people who care for them.

Meet some of our past volunteers below or Learn more below on how to become a Medical Volunteer.

If you have already registered to visit us at PASH please take a look at our Arrival Guide.

Dreaming of sunshine, surf, and ocean adventures—while making a real impact? Volunteer with PASH and turn your time in Fiji into a meaningful experience that supports animal welfare.

You can volunteer at PASH through any one of our partner organisations.

Our volunteers love animals and come with a positive, can-do attitude. At PASH, volunteers are open to learning, can follow instructions, and aren’t afraid to get a little dirty. They love Fiji, care deeply about animal welfare, and are always willing to chip in wherever needed.

For medical volunteers, this includes assisting in our clinic with surgeries and consults, supporting shelter care, and working under pressure in a fast-paced environment. You’ll also need to be adaptable and willing to work with limited access to medical supplies and equipment.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to meet you! Fill out our volunteer application now and we’ll be in touch shortly.

What makes a great Medical Volunteer?

  • We require medical volunteers to work our standard operating hours.

PASH is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 5pm. Alternative work hours can be arranged with prior notice.

  • The clinic is open to the public from Tuesday - Saturday 8am to 5pm. However the shelter has around the clock needs and we have a team working 7 days a week to cover this.

  • Surgeries are sterilisations, tumors (common in Fiji) and sadly there are always injuries due to RTA's as well as various other injuries.

General checkups, vaccinations and treatments will also be required.

Medical protocols will be reviewed with volunteers by the resident vet upon arrival.

  • A new onsite two bedroom apartment will be provided for volunteers which includes air conditioning, full size refrigerator, microwave, cooktop, coffee maker, toaster and all dishes and utensils.

  • We are only able to accept experienced vet and nurse volunteers with three years post graduation experience.

The schedule and activities that can take place during volunteering may be subject to change due to the changing circumstances of the pandemic in accordance with local restrictions and regulations.

  • Flight arrivals and departures are to/from the International Airport in Nadi.

Volunteers will be met on arrival at the airport by a pick up service and dropped off directly to PASH.

A PASH team member will be there to greet you upon arrival and help you settle in.

Meet our Volunteers

  • Hannah

Hannah volunteered at PASH in March 2023 from the UK. She comes with 6.5 years of experience.

  • Dr. Robert Gribble

Dr Gribble has over 25 years of experience and own 2 large clinics in Texas USA. Robert stopped by to support PASH with his medical expertise while visiting Fiji.

  • Leona & Lindsay

Leona and Lindsay are an incredible veterinary duo from Scotland who spent a month with us at PASH, bringing their expertise, kindness, and good humour to our shelter hospital. Their time here was filled with surgeries, teaching moments, and plenty of cuddles for our rescue animals. We’re so grateful for the care, compassion, and laughter they shared with our team — and the animals loved them just as much as we did!
